On Friday evening, my husband and I went out on a date.
I was incredibly nervous. Not because it was our first date since our 19th wedding anniversary....but because we were going to eat out. We never eat out. We generally don't like to eat out.
Because.....and I'm sincerely not trying to brag....but when you can cook well, it is hard to be impressed by restaurant food.
So I was excited about going out with my hubby, but nervous about the food. Even going to restaurants that people rave about, we usually find ourselves disappointed. When we take the rare opportunity to go out on "date night" we are usually left with "well that was a waste of money." We will enjoy the time we spend together, but not be impressed with what we spent the money on.
So Friday night, we went to Lavelle's Bistro, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Jeff and I both ordered appetizers to enjoy before our entrees came.
Jeff ordered ~shudder~ Oysters on the Half Shell. He loved them.
I ordered Blackened Scallops with Jasmine Rice and Pineapple Salsa.
The spoon on this plate is a Tablespoon.
This was delicious!!!!
Jeff and I looked at each other over the appetizers, and said if the meals were just as good, we were were going to be very pleased.
We were not disappointed. Jeff had Salmon and I had Halibut.
And both made us sit back with smiles on our faces.
Finally!!!! A restaurant that meets my expectations!! And the German Chocolate Martini I had wasn't bad either!
Definitely a place that we would actually like to visit again.
