Thank you for the link! When we PCSed here, I shipped about 200lbs of wheat with our household goods. I had seen wheat at Sunshine foods on Trainer Gate Rd, and non-organic at Fred Meyer but didn't know of anywhere else to get them. Ordering through Breadbeckers or Wheat Montana were both out of the question. And I see they carry Rye! I only have about 4 pounds left of that, and figured I would have to break down and pay the shipping for it up here.

Pleasant Hill Grain has an adapter that you can use to attach Kitchen Aid attachments to the Bosch. I don't remember how much it cost, but that it wasn't an awful lot. So that might be an option if you do decide to go with the Bosch.

Thanks for that information. Like I said, I currently have the baby KA and it has served me well for 12 years but now I make bread regularly. One reason I dread leaving the Ka is that we grind all our moose/caribou at home using the ka so we already have our attachements. I buy grain through the Leigh family here in Fairbanks who work with wholyliving.com from Palmer so I have seen the bosch at work and I know about the attachements and all that they have....I really don't like deciding. Thank you for your story. I will try this recipe this week when I make bread.

Yes, I have made the bread up here in AK. I sometimes need to use a little less flour because the air is a little drier here than it was in NC, but I have made it several times.

I originally had a Bosch, and I loved it. But then I thought all those nice Kitchen Aid attachments looked so appealing. My neighbor bought the KA Pro and I used it to do a test run making bread. I thought it did a good job - not as good as the Bosch, but acceptable. So I sold my Bosch and bought the Kitchen Aid "Professional 600"

I ended up only having it for about 6 weeks. I'm sure mine was just a lemon, but it started burning up on me, and I had to go through the warranty service to have it replaced. I decided that selling my Bosch was a mistake, so as soon as I got the replacement, I sold it (unused) on ebay, and turned around and bought the brand new Bosch Universal.

I will never ever think of giving up my Bosch again.

Like I said, I may have had a fluke bad one, because "everyone" seems to use Kitchen Aid, but I was simply not impressed, and decided to go back to what I knew worked.

The only downside to the Bosch, is the motor is SO powerful, that anything you may mix that doesn't have a lot of body (like a cake batter) will be thrown to the side of the bowl. I use a hand mixer for mixing things like that, and save my Bosch for the real jobs. But the whisk attachment will beat whipped cream in record time! Oh, and I have the blender for the Bosch as well. It came with it. I ordered it through PleasantHillGrain.com

Also, I see you have the professional KitchenAid, I am planning on buying a new mixer soon, I have a baby KAid that is on its last leg and my family has pretty much tripled in size so I need something bigger. I am trying to decide whether to go bigger KA, Viking or Bosch. Any opinions? Thanks in advance!
