If you have been following my blog for a while, you may remember that when my husband came home from Afghanistan, we completely surprised the kids.
Well....we did it again. My kids were preoccupied watching the pilot of a new tv show, and I told them I was going out to take pictures of the night sky. And I did.
THEN I went to the airport, and pick-up up this tired, but smiling face :)
Then we went home, he waited in the foyer, and I headed into the house. I called the kids over to look at the pictures I took. As we scrolled through them, and then they saw the picture of Daddy...there was shocked silence for a moment. Then "Daddy?!?!?!" When they said that, he came through the door.
Commence squealing.
And so, my honey is home for his R&R. Mama's happy.

What a Fox!
Literally!
Yesterday I was coming home and saw something run across the road. At first I thought it was a dog, because of its size, but as I got closer, realized it was a large fox!
I was able to snap a quick picture as it ran off.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Cupcakes
With the arrival of Autumn, I find myself seriously craving goodies made with pumpkin. That includes a "Pumpkin Spice Latte" that you can get at Starbucks. Well, these cupcakes are inspired by that seasonal beverage. But unlike the beverage, you could enjoy these any time of year!

Where Were You?
That's a question that is circulating all over the internet, the news, and conversation this weekend.
Where were you?
There are certain events in our lives, that we always remember where we were when they happened.
In 1986, I was in gym class, when the principal announced the explosion of the Challenger.
In 1993, I was standing in my kitchen in Texas when I saw the news about the World Trade Center bombing.
In 1995, I was driving from Georgia to Tennessee when I heard on the radio about the Oklahoma City bombing.
Ten years ago, when it happened, where were you?

My Dearest Aurora, How I've Missed You
The official first day of Autumn is just around the corner, and because of that....the Aurora Borealis is beginning to put on night shows again!
This was the first time I took AB photos with my new camera, and I am still learning my way around it. But here's the photos I took Monday morning, around 12:45am.

Hi Ho the Dairy O a-Hunting We will Go!
Last week, we headed out for a hunting and camping trip.
Our final destination was 11 miles back into the mountains, and the only way to get there was by way of ATV.

I am so sorry about the delay in getting the results posted. As you have seen...I was away from the computer....and the whole house for that matter.
This was really hard, there were some great entries!!!
But I finally decided on the name.

I will be contacting the winning contestant shortly!
