Okay, I do, but that will be the second thing I shoot him with.

a short break

I'm not going to be posting a Military Monday post today....I have several projects I am working on, that require good weather....and that is dwindling here in Interior Alaska!

In the meantime.....sit back and relax and watch the clouds go by.

I was sitting here the other night, thinking about how good a pie would taste. And then how good something with chocolate would taste. And then how good something with coffee would taste.

And this is what I came up with! It is dark and rich. It reminds me of a Starbucks Mocha in a pie crust!

A Ridiculously Easy, Hanging Pot Rack

Years ago, I was in a house that had some very limited space in the kitchen. I had to find a way to store things, and this is what I came up with. A hanging pot rack, that takes minutes to make.

Kitchen Remodel....Army Wife Style

Something you learn, being an army wife, is to get creative when it comes to ways to decorate your home. What you do has to be temporary, because you are likely to be living in military housing, or renting.

Years ago, when we lived in Germany, I learned a trick from my neighbor. I mentioned this back when we moved here last year....and if you forgot the hideous institutional PINK kitchen counters I have....well...you are about to see them again.

I decided it was time for a change...the green was about to go, as it was starting to show some wear.

Sunrise Muffins

These muffins are great for a morning treat. You can make them for a dessert by adding a cream cheese frosting....but either way, these are delicious!

As many of you know, our unit is in the midst of a deployment. Well, last night, us Cav Wives got together to celebrate that we are somewhere around Half Way through it.

And it involved an army of chickens!

I took the kids berry picking the other day.

Solar Halo

Yesterday I was at the store, and looked up to see something that we see periodically up here. It is called a Solar Halo. It is a rainbow that encircles the sun like a halo. It is so neat to see this, and I can't ever remember seeing these before moving to Alaska. I'm sure this occurs in other places, I had just never seen it before moving here.

This Year's Homeschool Curriculum

I thought I would take a moment to share with you what curriculum we are going to be using this year.

This year I have only two students, since Jennifer has now graduated.

Jack will be an "8th grader" .....and really, it takes me a moment to remember that because grades aren't a real big deal for this homeschooling family. When I pulled the kids out of public school, they were behind the standard academic levels they should have been in, particularly in Math. So I select curriculum that is on their level, not their "grade."

Yesterday, the kiddos and I went to the Tanana Valley State Fair. It is the fair here in Fairbanks, Alaska.
