Every so often, I have to go through my phone and delete pictures. So I'll pick my favorites and send them to Flickr before deleting them.

Homeschoolers' Addiction

I don't know what it is, but man oh man, when all those school supplies start coming out, I have to CONTROL myself!!!!

Pencils! Pens! Notebooks! Folders! Clips! Crayons!

What do you mean my junior doesn't need crayons?!?! But! But!!!!

That kind of makes me a little sad actually....they grow up much too fast.

But really, it takes some serious self-control action going through those aisles! Today though, I saw something that I really liked....and even though I had already bought notebooks for the school year, when I saw these, I HAD to have some!

Keeping Busy

This week, my kids are gone again. Last month they went on a trip to Youth Camp in Sterling, Alaska. Monday they left for a Mission Trip in Eagle River, Alaska.

The Monster

The other day I posted a picture of a "monster" moose track.

Well, the day we headed into Delta Junction we saw one that would have made a track like that!

This giant had no fear of us what so ever. He stood there, practically posing!

Morning around camp was quiet and peaceful.

The Wildlife

Unlike some of our last camping trips, this one was heavy on the wildlife.

We didn't see one of the sources of this track, but we saw lots of other things.

While in the area, we made a run into Delta Junction, and stopped at the farmer's market.

In the evening, there was lots of time for fun and silliness, since it is still quite light out. Especially time for S'Mores!

This weekend, we went camping at Quartz Lake, just outside of Delta Junction, Alaska.

The 50's Army Stepford Wives

Last night, a group of the ladies in our unit had a social...a social with a theme! It was the "Stepford Wives of the 50's!" and boy oh boy what fun this was!

I loved having the chance to wear my grandmother's necklaces. I miss her dearly.

Chicken & Dumplings

This is a classic and simple "comfort food" that is a huge favorite around our house. Chicken & Dumplings. Not something people usually have in the summer, but in Alaska, with occasional high's of only the 50's, you can even make this in July!

It's that time again! This week, I am teaching classes in the Level 1 portion of the Army Family Team Building program.



If you are an Army spouse, check with your local Army Community Services office for these classes. It is especially great for young or new army spouses!

On the way Home

On the way home from our camping trip, we made a super-quick stop at mile 16.6 of the Steese Highway.

On a side note...if you are ever given directions for anything outside the city limits in Alaska, it almost always includes these words: "Mile ____ of the ______ Highway."

For instance, the state park we camped at was "Mile 39 of the Steese Highway."

While on our camping trip, we took a break from boys fishing and mom panning for gold, and hiked up this mountain.

Independence Day

Today several ladies in our unit got together for a little cookout in honor of Independence Day. They don't do fireworks up here.......it doesn't get dark.

After Midnight

Yesterday I went out to dinner and a movie with my neighbor and some other ladies. When we walked out of the theater around 12:04 am, this was the beautiful sight that greeted us.
