Thursday was my birthday. I turned 39 years old.
I celebrated it by going grocery shopping...because it was payday.
My hubby gave me a bouquet of flowers, my daughter gave me a nice travel coffee cup, and she even baked me a Pineapple Up-Side-Down cake. Yum!
......and I wrapped it up by taking my husband to the airport and saying "Goodbye."
R&R was over, he was heading back to Iraq.
I love having R&R. Time with my husband, time for the kids to spend with their Dad. We went fishing, we went shooting at the range, we simply enjoyed having him home.
I got used to having him in the other half of the bed again.
And then it was over.
That morning, I couldn't sleep, because I knew it was the day he was leaving. I was up around 5am. That night I couldn't sleep, because he left. I reached across the bed to rest my hand on his shoulder, and it was an empty pillow again.
Who knows what time I actually fell asleep.
And so I also hate R&R. It is a tease. They are home just long enough for you to get used to them being there, and then they are gone again. I can't wait until the day we can say "no more deployments!!!!"
So R&R.....you just don't know whether you love it, or you hate it.
