Angel Rock Trail

It is almost needless to say, that you can find natural beauty all around up here - after all, this is Alaska. But over the weekend, we went on a mini camping trip, and made a point of visiting a special place called "Angel Rock Trail."

The earlier part of the hike, we were near the river, with beautiful views of the water.

Joshua kept mentioning how he wanted to go swimming...and I kept telling him it was too cold. When he crouched down and felt the water, he busted up laughing at just how cold it actually was!

A great view of Angel Rock.

Continuing on with the hike up.

Along the way we saw all sorts of really neat ice formations hidden in the cracks and crevices of the rocks.

Reaching the "near" top.

It was an amazing view.

Believe it or not, we weren't even at the top. We had started the hike near lunch time, and hadn't brought any snacks or food with us, so we decided to save the rest of the hike up for another day. But this view was certainly a reward for the day!

The boys...

As we stood up here, enjoying the amazing sights....I couldn't help but think, "If only Jeff was here." It is times like this that we really hate these never-ending deployments. Dad should be with the boys up there, posing with the "menfolk" instead of me.

I love this photo of Joshua.

Next time, we'll head all the way up!
