Gifts

While my hubby was home on R&R, we gave the kiddos their gifts. We tend to go with one nice gift for each kiddo, less stress, and it is generally something they really want.

First of all, I am not a huge fan of Christmas. I could write a book on the reasons. But let me say, I do my best not to be a "Scrooge." So this year I was really enjoying NOT having to go all out and put out the decorations, and do a tree, or anything, because we were doing the gifts while Daddy was home in November. But my fiend and neighbor, "Mrs Q" was giving me a hard time about it. So......I brought in Bob. Bob is the pet name we gave a potted tree that I have on the front porch. I brought in Bob, and I put a single string of white lights on him, and the kiddos hung some candy canes.

There.

Done.

"Mrs. Q" came over and squealed.....I had actually done it.

She was so proud of Bob.

So then it was time for the gifts...

Now, we made the kiddos open their gifts with their eyes shut, because they were basically all getting the same thing.

Then they opened their eyes at the same time.

The shock.

The amazement.

This year, they got cell phones. You have no idea.

This is a big deal.

A VERY big deal.

Although Bear couldn't understand what all the fuss was.....or why this thing was on his head.

SO then it was Daddy's turn.

He had to close his eyes too.

And he was thrilled with his gift.

First thing he said to me was, "I didn't think you were going to get me one."

But of course I would....you really think I would make that man of mine miss out on something he really, really wanted?

Military life is hard enough, enjoy the simple things.

I love you sweetheart, and I'm really enjoying your fancy shmancy coffeemaker....can't wait til you're home to use it yourself.

I miss you honey!
