As some of you know, we have always wanted to move to this place.

Well, with my husband being deployed to Afghanistan, part of Operation Enduring Freedom, I am looking forward to his return for countless reasons. First and foremost being that I miss him with my entire being.
Second....we have this very tantalizing notion that we may actually get "orders" to do a PCS, that is a "Permanent Change of Station" - aka a military move. Now, we have lived in North Carolina, stationed at the same place for nearly 12 years straight. That is practically unheard of in military life. I don't think anyone in our unit has been here longer than us. People come, and go other places, and get sent here again....and here we still are.
Most military kids can't tell you what state they are from, or what their hometown is, because they grow up all over the world. And though I have a child born in Virginia, a child born in Tennessee, and a child born in Germany....all my children know is North Carolina. But that may soon change.
Because we have been given signs of hope. Indications that we may actually be moving to a place where we might see things like this...

and things like this...

and this...

and this...

or maybe even this....

Be still my heart!
So in the coming months, we will find out more. It is hard to get too excited, because the military makes hurricanes seem predictable. But there is the tiniest glimmer of hope.
I even subscribed to this little gem...

And then I have to get a napkin because I am drooling over the beauty and wildness of it.
So we shall see.....
What will become of us? Will our next home be the last frontier, or will the army send us somewhere more tame?
Only time will tell.
And lots of prayers are being said.

This sounds so exciting. I have a friend that lives in King Salmon who tells all the great things about Alaska. He loves it there.
I pray that you all get this dream.
I have an Air Force family that I am friends with who were stationed in AK for 6 yrs. They loved it there. They have me curious about it. I also know an Army couple who are currently in Palmer, AK. I love seeing the pictures she posts.
I hope your dream comes true. I think you all would love it.
I will keep your dream in my prayers for you...Cindy
