I make this for potlucks when I need to bring a dessert, and I never have any to bring home. The funniest thing too, is every time, people say, "Who made that banana thing? That is good!" But there are no bananas in it. I made it yesterday for a BBQ, and sure enough, "Try that banana dessert." Although, I am thinking of making it with a layer of bananas some time, I think that might be really good

Grandma's Ice Cream Dessert
1/2 c melted butter
50 ritz crackers, crushed fine
1 1/2 c cold milk
2 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding (not 1 large)
1 quart softened vanilla ice cream
12oz of "cool whip"
1 Heath candy bar, chopped up
Mix the cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9 x 13" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool completely. In a mixing bowl, mix milk and pudding mixes for 2 minutes. Fold in ice cream. Mix until smooth. Pour over the crust. Spread cool whip over the top of the ice cream mixture. Sprinkle with candy bar.
Chill in the fridge for an hour before serving. This is stored covered in the fridge, not in the freezer.
You can also use other candy bars. I have made it with Butterfingers when I couldn't find a heath or skor bar. You can also use chocolate pudding & ice cream for a different version, but above is how my Grandma always made it, and is still my favorite.
Enjoy!
